Italian leather has become a synonym for finest quality and even our chinese competitors do use this demonination for the the material they are using. Just that many different leather are processed in Italy. From best quality from european cattle hides to highly corrected leathers of south american provenience that have very little in common with what we at steelform call "leather".

The aniline died hides with a thickness of roughly 1,3mm are mostly cut by hand in order to make sure that only perfect parts are used for visible parts of the upholstery. Most leather coverings are stitched with sewing machines, the rounded seams of articles like the Swan and Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen do even require the use of needles. The picture on the right side shows the sewing of a Barcelona Chair upholstery, which is made from no less than 126 single pieces of leather.

Cushions of different shapes and materials are stuffed into the leather coverings to complete the upholstery. After this, the components can be joined.

A final polish and a thorough quality check preceeds the packaging and delivery to our customers. The brown carton boxes do rightfully bear the inscription: MADE IN ITALY and we hope that you will soon be receiving on or more at your home.
