Hand made in Italy: The chrome plating
Electroplating takes a multitude of specialized equipment and is moreover subject to strict environmental restrictions. Our electroplating plant complies with the latest European standards and leaves no toxical pollution as it is a closed circuit where the waste is fully recycled.

First step is to polish the raw steel frames (do you recognize a Barcelona Chair?) to an almost mirrorlike finish, again this is done by hand. The prepared components are mounted into racks to automatically carry them through the plating process which takes about 90 minutes.

The material is thoroughly cleaned in acid and rinsed in hot water before it gets the first matte nickel coating. After a second, shiny nickel coating the frames are again rinsed. The galvanic bath uses metallic Nickel.

The mineral chrome bath is yellow and provides the final coating that will last for decades. The stunning result! After drying in the rack it is ready for packing and shipping back to the furniture manufacturer.
