Despite the fact that Le Corbusier himself considered sofas too bourgeois and resisted to introduce them to his furniture collection, the LC 2 two seater and three seater version were a great success after their belated introduction.
The LC 2 sofas strictly follow Le Corbusier's formal design but unite the flexibility of a multiseater with the restrained aesthetic of the armchair. In terms of comfort both versions are a match.
At steelform we spare no efforts to measure up to this design classic in production as well. We offer true to the original reproductions of this design classic; hand made in Italy from the best materials.
The simple lines of the LC 2 series elegantly conceal the complexity of the manufacturing processes involved.
The narrow curves of the steelframe couldn't even be achieved in serial production in the 1920s and even today this requires technical skills and know how that we at steelform happily put forth. Unfortunately many competitors are not willing to invest and offer cheap copies.
The charm of the LC 2 series lies in the contrast of the rectangular frame and the soft cushioning nestled within. To achieve a certain stability and most of all comfort within the minimalistic frame the upholstery has to adhere to the highest standards. The cushions are filled with a compound of foam and wadding and the seat cushion receives an extra inlay of down feathers.
