The Plastic Chairs bz Charles & Ray Eames are icons amongst designer furniture of the Mid Century Modern and haven't lost their appeal since their introduction to the market in 1950.
The Plastic Chairs not only contributed to the democratisation of design furniture but also allow multiple usage options thanks to the underlying idea. Because the penchant of the Eameses for modular concepts is partially noticeable even in this chair design. Thanks to the variations for the base the Eames Plastic Chair is easy to adapt to many different opportunities to utilize it.
The dining table is by far not the only natural habitat of the DAW Plastic Chair. Enthusiasts even fancy the chair in a professional context. They are comfortable enough for sure.
The DAW in particular make a slightly more homely and robust impression than the DAR not only thanks to our associations with the 'warm' material wood but also the combination with armrests that add to its versatility.
In case the monosyllabic subtitles of the Plastic Chairs lead to confusion see the variations available at steelform at a glance:
|Seat in glossy fiberglass; nowadays nonhazardous for daily use.||Close up of the complex stanless steel and ash wood base|
The original fiberglass shell was replaced by ABS plastic for many use since the initial composition of the material proved to be hazardous for health and environment. Thanks to advancements in materials research furniture production now has access to fiberglass that has no impact on our health. A benefit for Eames Plastic or rather Fiberglass Chairs by steelform as well.
