Quite often we find out that our customers are wary to be using their credit card when shopping at our online store. Some will even find it safer to wire funds to a foreign bank account instead, which we find quite unlogical.
There is much desinformation and nonsense about the perils of credit card fraud and even banks and credit card companies reveal very little information. Reason enough for us to give you some information about the benefit of VISA / MASTERCARD payment in online transactions
The good news is that consumers are widely protected by VISA and MASTERCARD policies-- in case of credit-card fraud online or off, you are not liable for the amount stolen. All you need to do is file a so-called chargeback with the bank that issued your credit card.
The Chargeback Procedure - Your 100% Protection against Fraud
A consumer may initiate a chargeback by contacting their issuing bank, and filing a substantiated complaint regarding one or more debit items on their statement. In most cases the bank will immediately refund the amount to your account and start an investigation.
It can be triggered by the following reasons:
- Technical: Expired authorization, non-sufficient funds, or bank processing error.
- Clerical: Duplicate billing, incorrect amount billed, or refund never issued.
- Quality: Consumer claims to have never received the goods as promised at the time of purchase.
- Fraud: Consumer claims they did not authorize the purchase or identity theft.

After sucessfully processing the payment, we immediately delete your credit card information, since we would be liable for any damage resulting from loss or theft of such data. We will have to ask you again for any repeat purchase or eventual refund, but we think this to be much safer.
There is no way third parties can get a hold of your sensitive data by breaking into our system since there are simply none to be found on our computers!
