Two of these unusual but very comfortable chairs appeared in the early 1920ies in Eileen Gray's own appartment in the Rue Bonaparte in Paris. Later she used it in various furnishings she conceived for her avantgarde clientèle. Eileen nicknamed this Chair "Bibendum" after the mascot of french tire maker Michelin. |
